I whistled, he came!

I whistled, he came!, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

After visiting Greensky Hill, we took a drive down some less-traveled roads and stopped to look at this gorgeous pinto. He came to to fence to see us, but soon losst interest because we had no apples or carrots with us. We had been to Rostenthal Farms for sour pie cherries and that was the only food we had with us. Lovely drive with my daughter.

Joe Pye weed

P1000279joepye, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

This new England Indian used this plant, or a similar one, in healing. One internet source describes the tea made from it as "nauseous." And research on Joe Pye himself turns up very little besides his debt to a New England saloon-keeper. As with other native Americans from New England, his tribe, which still had people named Pye, was pushed west several times until they reach Minnesota. This lovely soft pink reliably adorns the roadsides here at this time of year, giving Joe Pye a sort of immortality, or remembrance.

About Ready?

IMG_1588 crp, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

I love this! It is like a little story about a marriage. Taken today at Big Rock Point, formerly the spring gathering place for the local Odawa/Ottawa tribe. There were a lot of geese, but they didn't stay long when two people began scrambling toward them over the scrub.

Girl with three gulls

P1310924crp wwww, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

This child was waiting for a wedding in the park to begin. I had to crop it from a larger photo, since the opportunity only lasted as she climbed this grassy bank. I like the gulls . . .

Fantasy blend

P1300422sil layer, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

I spent ten hours yesterday fooling with pictures and especially the Silver Efex Pro filters. Then I blended one with an old black and white shot of rebuilding our farmhouse, circa 1956. To get good at this will take a lot of time and investigation. But the possibilities are endless. Creation of other worlds and otherworldliness.

It's about the feet; never mind that I cropped the person out by mistake. I love the way this came out as a square. TRY SQUARES!

A bouquet of cottonwood leaves

A bouquet of cottonwood leaves, originally uploaded by jhhymas.

After an intense rainstorm, my granddaughter picked up all these cottonwood leaves from the lawn, and presented them to me. I put them in the vase just the way she gave them to me. A short time later, she added the little blue flower, and the rose, which she pulled from the bush by grasping just above the thorns and under the blossom.
Little beloved blog--I've been neglecting you.
